If you let the blues
get you scared to feel”

“Tears and fears and feeling proud to say 'I love you' right out loud.” ~ Joni Mitchell

“I've looked at life from both sides now/ From win and lose and still somehow/ It's life's illusions I recall/ I really don't know life at all.” ~ Joni Mitchell

“I remember that time you told me, you said
"Love is touching souls."
Surely you touched mine
'Cause part of you pours out of me
In these lines from time to time.
You're in my blood like holy wine,
You taste so bitter and so sweet.”

~ Joni Mitchell

You taste so bitter and so sweet.
I could drink a case of you darling
Still I'd be on my feet.
I would still be on my feet.”

And put up a parking lot,
With a pink hotel,
A boutique, and a swinging hot spot.”

“And the seasons, they go round and round,/ And the painted ponies go up and down./ We're captive on the carousel of time.”

In Joni's anthem Woodstock comes the mission statement that we got to get ourselves back to the garden. I am one of her we, are you? Consider how Adam and Eve were expelled from the garden, for eating the apple of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Eating the apple is the same as smoking pot. Being expelled from the garden means being criminalized by the Controlled Substances Act, which in the days of Eden had only one substance scheduled, the apple of knowledge of good and evil. Adam says God told him not to eat the apple. Adam thought that what goes for him should go for everybody. God didn't tell Eve not to eat the apple, Adam did. Nevertheless, she found out for herself, by defying the prohibition. Then she knew good (the apple) and evil (the prohibition). To get back to the garden, we must abolish prohibition.
