Patient collectives which had provided safe access for ill Washingtonians for a decade or more were suddenly deemed “dangerously unregulated” by legislators who, not coincidentally, were receiving advice (and did I campaign contributions?) from I-502 merchants who didn’t enjoy the untaxed competition (and often superior products and customer service) of the medical side.
